Aiden Lee Wins 102nd California State Fair Championship After Four-Hole Playoff

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A three-way tie on the 18th hole set up a
dramatic four-hole playoff Monday as Aidan Lee, Kavi Marez and Keita
Yobiko battled for the championship of the 102nd California State Fair
Championship, held September 5–7 at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.

All three players finished the regulation 54 holes with scores of 199, 17
under par.

Birdies by Lee and Marez on the first playoff hole eliminated Yobiko from
contention. Lee and Marez then continued their battle for the title through
the remaining playoff holes, with Lee sinking four birdies during the playoff.
Marez ultimately secured a par on the fourth playoff hole on No. 18, giving
Lee the victory.

Lee finished regulation play with rounds of 65-68-66 for 199. Marez posted
67-67-65 for 199, while Yobiko finished with 70-65-64 for 199.

Now in its 102nd year, the California State Fair Championship has a long
tradition of showcasing and developing talented golfers who have gone on
to successful professional careers. Past champions include several notable
PGA professionals, including Ken Venturi (1950), Allen Geiberger (1955),
Dick Lotz (1961 and 1962), George Archer (1963), and Kevin Sutherland
(1984).

The tournament is sponsored by the Sacramento Golf Council, with Larry
Glasmire serving as tournament director.
