Schedule

The State Fair Men's Amateur Championship is a 54-hole stroke play tournament with 18 holes played each day. After 36 holes, the field to play on Monday will be cut to the low 45 scores and ties. Ties for 1st Place only, will be settled via a "Sudden Victory" playoff, starting at the 1st hole immediately following the conclusion of the final round.

Rules

Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf as currently approved by the USGA. The pace of play for all SFC rounds is 4 hours 28 minutes. The SFC Pace of Play will be strictly enforced in a similar manner as the current procedures enacted by the USGA. Notice to Competitors, Local Rules and Tournament Conditions will be provided by email at the close of entries. The Tournament Committee requires that all players wear non-metal spikes. Golf shorts of appropriate length are permitted. The Committee reserves the right to reject an entry at any time before or after the start of tournament play. Any player engaging in unbecoming or unsportsmanlike conduct is subject to disqualification. The Committee reserves the right to alter the conditions and schedules herein. Distance-only measuring devices are permitted.

Carts and Caddies

Any SFC contestant may utilize a cart without limitation or restriction during any round of the Championship at the contestant's expense. Carts not rented or assigned to a particular contestant may be available to spectators and others at the discretion of Haggin Oaks at such person's expense, but no assurance of such availability is made by the SFC. Only players and/or caddies may ride together in a cart - no spectators. Those seeking a spectator cart should contact the course pro shop for cart availability prior to arriving at the course. Players may carry their own bag or provide their own caddie. Caddies represent the player and therefore must follow the Championship dress and rules of conduct.

SFC Awards

The winner will receive a 1st Place Trophy, a Morton Golf Gift Certificate for $1000, a 3-year SFC Exemption, and entry into the NCGA Amateur Championship. 2nd Place will receive a Morton Golf Gift Certificate for $800 and a SFC Exemption into the 2026 SFC. 3rd Place will receive a Morton Golf Gift Certificate for $700 and a SFC Exemption into the 2026 SFC. The Low 20 Scores (and ties) will receive a Morton Golf Gift Certificate and a SFC Exemption into the 2026 SFC.

Ranking Points

The SFC is a points event in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Ranking. For Northern California players, the SFC is a Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) points event.
